Real and volumetric weight
LitBuy charges for the larger of the real and the volumetric weight. On LitBuy's DHL lines to Bulgaria, for example, volumetric weight is length × width × height in centimetres divided by 8000. On EMS and EUB the divisor is 6000.
Example: a 50 × 40 × 30 cm box is 7.5 kg of volumetric weight on DHL. If it holds 4 kg, you pay for 7.5 kg.
Boxes and jackets add volume. Remove shoe boxes and vacuum pack clothes (Remove Shoe Boxes and Vacuum Seal when packing in LitBuy). LitBuy's DHL lines to Bulgaria take boxes up to 120 × 60 × 60 cm.
How to pay less for shipping
Put more items in one parcel. Small parcels cost much more per kilogram.
Do not go over 20 kg: most DHL tax-free lines take up to 20 kg and the risk of the parcel being held grows. Split a bigger order.
Remove shoe boxes and vacuum pack clothes. About 5–6 pairs of shoes per parcel is the sensible limit.
Use the -40% coupon from signing up: it is valid for 30 days and applies itself.

Tax-free line or EMS
Duty depends on your country's rules and the line. On LitBuy's DHL tax-free lines to Bulgaria, customs clearance is done in Germany or the Netherlands and you pay no duty. Which lines your country has shows in LitBuy's estimator.
On EMS and EUB the recipient pays the duty (“duties payable by recipient”): the postal service may ask for documents or duty, and if it is not paid the parcel goes back.
Do not pay or open links from a customs text message until LitBuy confirms it is real.
From 1 November 2026 the EU adds a €2 fee per parcel and requires a PID code. Ordering does not change. According to LitBuy's site (27 Oct 2026) LitBuy covers the €2 fee and refunds people who have already paid it.
Always add Purchase Protection (under Paid Services, when you choose the line): if the parcel is held, you get a full refund.

How much do clothes and shoes weigh?+
Roughly: T-shirt 0.25 kg, sweatshirt 0.7 kg, jeans 0.88 kg, puffer jacket 1.32 kg, a pair of shoes without box about 1 kg and with the box 1.65 kg. The calculator counts with these weights. The exact weight of each item shows in LitBuy when it reaches the warehouse.
